POL Preparation

. I was really excited to be of even a small bit of help to such a large cause. Hopefully the data I collected will allow them to optimize methane production and help get the reactor and plant to the best place possible. Through this internship I did a lot of work that helped the company and the people working there. It was work that made their job easier as well as finished work they had needed to get done for a while, but never had the time to do. I was able to give the workers more time to do different tasks and allowed them to finish what was most important while I work on the things that had been pushed to the back burner. I worked in both a lab and office space which allowed for two different types of work as well as slightly different environments. This work showed me so many different things within the work place and allowed me to see what these two different jobs entailed. This was an amazing opportunity that gave me a different type of education than the one I would have gotten in a classroom. It allowed me to look at the future I was considering and understand if that was something I really wanted to do. This was also an amazing place to work and be able to help out because the work they are doing is extremely helpful to the environment and will have a huge impact on the world around us, through helping with gas pollutant and renewable energy sources.

This internship was such an incredible opportunity that allowed me to appreciate the work that was being done at both facilities and see a type of work environment I hadn't really considered or thought about. It was a less professional environment where it seemed as if everyone was an equal and they all enjoyed each others company. Through meeting these people and getting to work with them I found that I really want to find a work place similar to this one and be able to gain some of the characteristics people here had. I found they were all really open and willing to discuss the work they were doing, easy to approach and easy to talk to and understand what they were doing. These are all characteristics I would love to gain/enhance in myself because it made for a better internship as well as work environment for everyone there. Another thing everyone here had was the ability to speak multiple languages extremely well and that is something I would love to be able to do as well because it opens up opportunities of people they were able to communicate with.

At Electrochaea the work environment is really serious when it needs to be and fun and joking when it can be. I thought that made it a great place to work and everyone seemed to enjoy their job and weren't being forced to come in everyday. I find a work environment is one I want to look for in my future career. I think this made me realize that a science/engineering career is one I would love to pursue and would enjoy to do in my life. I found this internship showed me that their are many different types of work environments and not all have to be serious constantly and that will help me in future careers to look for an environment I will enjoy.
